My Top 5 Study Tips & Advice

These past few weeks have been very for me, in terms of studying and keeping up with the workload of university and submitting my essays. In today’s post, I have decided to bullet point all the things that I do to ensure I get my work done and also so that I am in the right mindset for writing essays. Of course, these will not work for everyone, but I find that all of these little things help me to focus and WRITE WRITE WRITE!!!

A Tidy Room

This is very easy to do and surprisingly it will make such a huge difference towards your studying. I prefer to work in a clean and tidy space as I find that I tend to work better and also I can use the space to spread out all my work. I think that a tidy room and having a bed made is such a big difference. You wouldn’t really think about this, but for me, it helps so much and I don’t even know why.

Organise Your Workspace

By this, I mean your study desk or table or whatever you use to set up your workspace. For me, it has to be clean so that the things that are close by is a bottle of water and all of my relevant notes to help me study. Being in a clean environment is something that helps me to study a lot It takes my mind off things and I genuinely do find myself working better. I always think of it as clean space, clear mind!

Take Breaks

Taking regular breaks is essential. If you are like me and spend literally all day on Saturday and Sunday catching up with work then breaks are a must. I normally have a break every couple of hours which for me is just right. I tend to lose focus or not be able to think of what to do. When I get to this point I take a break, whether if that is going for a walk, watching a YouTube video or even just to make some food. I think it is a really good way to set your mind free to encourage more thinking in your break. This is when I tend to come up with more ideas.

Listen To An Instrumental Playlist

THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!! Before I used to do this, I would just put on my Spotify playlist and listen to chart music. It got to a point where I had so many essays due and I was finding it difficult to just write which is why I decided to put on an instrumental. Personally, I struggle with writing essays in a completely quiet place. I have to have a little bit of background noise, but it has to be nothing that could distract me. I found an 8 hour instrumental on YouTube which I use every time I have work to do. It honestly is great for the mind and I think it helps me a lot. I recommend giving this a try as it might work for you.

Snacks/ Water/Set Goals

The last thing I would suggest doing to help you with essay writing is having plenty of food/snacks as well as a bottle of water close by at all times. I think that drinking lots of water is always good for you and will keep you awake and hydrated. I sometimes treat myself to a special snack which could be chocolate raisins or anything that I am craving. I would set myself a target of which I have to complete before I can have my treat. I find that when I set myself realistic goals and really push myself, I will get the work done and more importantly at a good standard.

These are just a few of the few things that I always do before and when writing my essays for university. These help me every time which is why I will use them whenever I have lots of writing to do. I suppose some of these can be used when blog writing as well. It is about finding ways that help you personally. We are all different and will always have different tips that help us individually.
