What a month this is going to be!!!

I apologise for not posting weekly like I said I would.

I am writing this post primarily to tell you about all the wonderful things I have been up to, and all the things that I am looking forward to.

What you’ve missed?

You may or may not know, but I have finished my second year of university. I am so happy to be announcing this as it has been a big struggle for me, especially achieving the grades that I have been pushing for. I have finished first and the second year scrapping a 2:1 so I am proud of myself. I just keep saying to myself – It’s just one more year, and it will all be worth it! I will be doing a little Instagram poll soon as I want to create a YouTube video answering all of your questions about uni, adult life, and any questions you may have. So, comment a question or direct message me personally and I will add it to the list for you.

I have also been photographing a lot more. I managed to be the leading photographer of a wedding, as well as a few uni events – including summer ball 2019 with the special guest SIGALA. These past few months have been incredible. I have learnt so much and I think I have found a photography specialism which I would like to develop further. I absolutely love creating unique photo albums for all clients to treasure for eternity.

Recently, you would have seen, probably definitely you have seen if you follow me on social media or keep up with my blog posts. I wrote a post about creating a new YouTube channel that I would actually like to keep up and running, especially alongside my blog to help show in detail some of the posts that I am writing about. I mainly create content based on ASMR, lifestyle, and travel. Again, if you have any suggestion, please let me know.

What’s to come?

So, here’s to the best part… WHAT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TOOOO!!

This month is going to be filled with a lot of happiness. I am hoping to start a new job that is the same as what I am doing now, although it is higher up in the industry which will be great for my CV. I have been really focusing on things that I can do for experience. I have one year left at uni and I am so indecisive about what I want to do after.

I have been considering going travelling next June for around 2-3 months, if not longer. I have been thinking about going travelling for some time now. And, I am at the point in my life where I am worried that if I don’t do it now, then I probably won’t do it ever. I don’t want to regret not going as it is something I have always wanted to do. Of course, I would be able to go on holidays, but there is something about travelling solidly that I want to do. On my list so far, I have decided to go to Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, Sydney, Melbourne, and New Zealand. I am sure the list will definitely get longer, but that is it for now. If you have any suggestions or advice on anything at all about travelling, please please let me know as I will appreciate it greatly.

I will also be going on holiday at the end of this month to BARCELONA. I am extremely excited – to the point where I am thinking about packing my case already. I will be going there for 5 days with a group of friends. It is actually the same group of friends from when I went to Budapest last year. We have so much planned, and of course, I have planned and thought out the whole thing AGAIN! I just want this holiday to be perfect, and I want everyone to have a great time. I think I am going to be vlogging my time away. Although, I am not sure how I am going to do it. I don’t know if I want to do daily vlogs or to just do a new vlog every other day or so. I suppose it will be down to how much footage I actually manage to film.

And lastly, I have a few brands who I will be working with this month. I do want to keep it a surprise, but I thought I would give you the warning. These won’t be revealed for a few weeks yet, as things are still being discussed. I am very excited to be working alongside these businesses and I feel happy to have accepted their products to review for you. As I have said before, I will only work with the brands who I trust and support, and if I haven’t used them before, then I will give an honest review.

That’s all for today. This post is just a casual one to let you know about what is going on in the life of Bryoni. But yeah, if you have any advice or suggestions for anything that I have spoken about, then please please please drop me a comment.

Thank you.

10 Ways To Celebrate Valentine’s Day This Year.

As it’s Valentine’s day tomorrow, I have decided to write a post based on that.

20348197_683096678547002_252696292_oWhether if you’re celebrating Valentine’s, Galentine’s, or even Palentine’s day this year – I have got some perfect ideas of how you can spend a lovely day with your friends, family, well anyone at all really.

I’ve never really been the one to do something VERY EXTRA on Valentine’s day, and I don’t necessarily believe that you have to celebrate it. I do, however, believe that it is a nice day to celebrate, considering most people are, whether if that is with your best friend, family or partner. I think it is good to have a designated day to actually make plans, spend time with someone and have a lovely time. Here are some of my TOP things to do on Valentine’s day, and remember these are ideal for families, friends and partners.

Take A Trip

Going away for Valentine’s is definitely a popular thing to do to celebrate your love for another. I have seen many couples going away for a few days, especially on social media. I think that is definitely something nice to do together, as you are able to create new memories and it’s something you will remember for a long time.

Go For A Walk

I love going for a walk. It doesn’t even have to just be on valentines, but just generally. I enjoy going for a walk with Kevin, especially so we can spend time talking together, exploring and just seeing where the road takes us.

Do Some Kind Of Activity

You could do something such as bowling, wine and/or food tasting, cinema, do an escape room, watch a game, play a game (monopoly), go ice-skating, or even just to go exploring. I think that you can do any activity that you are both interested in. You should do something that maybe, you either LOVE or something that you have never done before. It’s always a good idea to try things for the very first time!

Go Out For Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner

This is something that I have done a few times with Kevin. We normally go out for dinner. I really like doing this as it is a lovely way to spend time together, talk about your day and enjoy a lovely meal that has been cooked for the both of you. Last year, Kevin and I went to Wetherspoons as they had a special deal on which was £20 for both of you. This included 2 main meals and 2 desserts, along with a bottle of wine or an alternative drink. Similar to this, you could cook dinner together (from scratch), perhaps a pizza or something that would be a lot of fun. I love making pizzas, along with baking cakes. I think that would be a pretty fun and an amazing thing to do… Perhaps I’ll do that this year LOL.

Recreate Your First Date

I can’t really remember mine and Kevin’s first date, but I think that this would be such a lovely thing to do together.

Enjoy A Movie Night In With LOTS Of Snacks

MY FAVOURITE THING TO DO!!!!!!!

If I have time, I will write a post or share with you on Instagram what I got up to on Valentine’s day. All I know, for now, is that we are going for a lovely meal out at somewhere we have never been before. I am very much looking forward to it.

What do you have planned for valentine’s day?

What Is ASMR? And Why Does It Make Me Feel So Good?

This is definitely a different type of post, in comparison to the type of things I normally publish. However, I have seen a lot of new YouTubers recently try out ASMR (such as Mark Ferris and Safiya Nygaard) which had got me feeling that perhaps this can become a lot more popular than what it appeared to be before. Ever since I heard about it, I always wanted to watch and find out a little bit more.

What is ASMR?

According to Bing, Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a feeling of well-being combined and an experience characterized by a static-like or a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck and upper spine. ASMR can be triggered by many things and of course, differs per individuals, such as whispering, paper tearing, tapping, and scalp massage.

ASMR reminds me a little bit of the work of Antonin Artaud (drama practitioner) who invented the ‘Theatre Of Cruelty’ which is a performance that included the audience. Artaud believed that gesture and movement was a lot more powerful than text. An example of his work; is one that involves the audience laying on the floor with some individuals who will make the audience feel emotions. The lights are recommended to be off. The task of the individuals is to create sounds either verbally or the use of objects to be used as a tool of sensory disruption. The idea is to make them feel this tingling sensation or goosebumps which is inevitably a real-life experience of feeling an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).

Why does it make me feel so good?

Without this sounding very strange (and definitely NOT inappropriate), but I have always enjoyed the feeling of being touched. When I say this, I mean for things like massages, stroking of the skin and playing with my hair/a head massager. I find it rather relaxing and when I experience any of these it often makes me feel slightly sleepy. I honestly find it a great way to calm my body down, especially if I have had a stressful/busy day or if I am very anxious. Fortunately, there are now many many people (YouTubers) who have made videos that are designed to trigger ASMR; whether if that is through whispering, role-playing or the basic forms of tapping and rubbing. These are actually designed to make you feel relaxed and to experience that tingling feeling. So, if you feel this whilst you watch these videos then you have experienced an ASMR.

Here are a couple of my favourite kinds of videos to watch especially before going to sleep, as it puts my mind in a good place to have happy thoughts and dreams.

Don’t forget to wear headphones if you can as it gives a whole different perspective!

Goodbye January, Hello February!

And a very COLD welcome to a snowy first day of February…

IMG_0542

I woke up this morning to find a very thin layer of snow, despite the weather forecast saying that we would get a lot of it over the night. It was a bit of a disappointment, to say the least. However, we are due to get some more snow tonight, so if I wake up tomorrow morning to a lot of snow, you can expect more photos, snowball fights, and a little snowman.

You’re probably wondering what kind of post this is…I thought it would be nice to do a little transition post from January to February for you to know what I have been up to, as well as what I have planned for February.

RECAP OF JANUARY…

– It’s been 3 weeks since I started the second term of my second year at university and it’s safe to say that it has been a really good 3 weeks. I have been keeping up with my assignments, as well as making notes on my future assignments that will soon be due. I am really enjoying my performance criticism module as we are able to review anything we like, such as tv shows, YouTube videos, movies, live performance, and many many more. I like how flexible it is which is great because I get to write about things that I am interested in.

– You will probably know this if you follow me on my social media, but I am moving apartments in the next 3/4 weeks. I have been extremely busy ever since we viewed the property and accepted it, such as filling out all the forms, buying new things for the flat, as well as organizing a removal van and setting up relevant things that we need to be sorted before our moving date. I definitely feel like an independent adult now, considering I have been sorting a majority of this out all by myself.

– I have also been very lucky to have experienced photographing at the university’s student union for one of their masquerade balls. I had sooooooooo much fun and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I have never really had the chance to photograph at a nightclub or in that sort of setting before, so it was amazing to try something new. I am looking forward to what’s to come, in regards to my photography career, and all the shoots I have planned in the next coming months.

IT’S TIME FOR FEBRUARY…

I can’t believe it is already the 1st of February…like that is crazy! January has just flown by. Although, I am looking forward to everything that February has installed for me.

– I will be getting the keys to mine and Kevin’s new apartment on 26th February, so as you can imagine, I am thrilled about moving. I have been wanting this for so long. Even though we live together now, it’s not the same as having our own flat and being in our own space. I have recently been making a few purchases of some things that we will need, although we are going to wait for a few things and purchase them once we have already moved in. Kevin thinks that will be wise, as then we just have to get it delivered there and I couldn’t agree more!

– I have sooooooo much uni work to do during February, such as reading 3 books for my Education Studies course which are quite complex. But, I am hoping to read some of each of them during this weekend, so I at least make a start on them. Alongside that, I will be going to my teaching placement 4 times this month and a total of 24 hours for my volunteering module. I am very nervous to be going into a school and potentially teach, but at the same time, I am very excited because I have been waiting for an experience like this for a long time. I have always wanted to be a teacher, so if this goes well, then I will know that I am making the right decision by studying at university.

I am so excited to be moving into my new apartment in a few weeks. I want to do some moving/new flat blog posts. I will definitely be doing an empty flat tour, as well as a room tour.

If there are any posts that you want to see, please let me know in the comments below. I could really do with the inspiration!

Being Dyslexic And Blogging.

Don’t let DYSLEXIA stop you from achieving your goals!

This is a topic that I have been thinking of covering for a few weeks now and I feel like today is the day. This is going to be very personal and informative as I want to inspire many of you to go out there and tackle your dreams and goals.

How did this affect me growing up?

I have never been a fan of reading, especially those massive books with hundreds of pages and complex storylines. I would normally struggle with reading, not just with the words, but keeping the information in and processing what it meant and what was being said. This was a big struggle for me growing up, yet I was not aware of this until I was diagnosed. I just thought I was ‘bad’ at reading. It all makes sense now!

At primary and secondary school, I always preferred the more artistic/creative subjects, such as pe, art, music, and drama. I found it easier to connect in those subjects because I did not have anything to stop me from developing further and I was able to achieve higher in those subjects. I did not have any assessments done during school, as it was not picked up within my lessons.

It wasn’t until I was halfway through my second year of university where I decided to speak to student services about how I could about getting a test done. I had been struggling a little with the complex readings, as well as receiving feedback on my assignments which suggests signs of being muddled and a lack of understanding. Dyslexia does run in my family, which is why after I spoke about this, it was agreed that perhaps I should get tested.

Of course, finding out about this officially at 21 is quite daunting and causes a lot of self-doubts. I never want this to stop me from believing about myself. I have worked so hard to get to where I am, and I have probably had to work a lot harder than others, but I am determined to complete university with a 2:1 in Education Studies and Drama, as well as continue sharing posts on my blog which I love so much!

What is Dyslexia?

‘Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems with reading, writing, and spelling. It is estimated that up to 1 in every 10 people, in the UK, have some degree of Dyslexia. Dyslexia is a lifelong problem that can present challenges on a daily basis, but support is available to improve reading and writing skills to help those who really need it at school and work’ (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Dyslexia/). Dyslexia affects individuals in different ways. Even though there is no exact cause, it does tend to run in families.

Is there a stigma with Dyslexia?

Personally, I think that there is still some stigma associated with having dyslexia. At university, pupils who are known to be dyslexic are given a range of equipment, funding, software’s, personal tutors, extra time in exams etc, which is funded by the university. Although I haven’t received any of the software’s and tutors yet, as I am still in the process, I think that pupils with dyslexia are able to try different things to suit their needs which results in them achieving higher because of different learning methods. Pupils should be able to have access to specific software’s to help them achieve higher, as they are created for a reason.

As it’s only been a few weeks after finding my results, I think that it is important to inform your place of work, including interviews for new ones. It is good to be honest with them. Even though being dyslexic is common and not that bad, it is still a good idea for them to know, especially to support you should you need it.

I am not sure how I feel about it towards blogging. I feel like some of my readers already know about it, due to my writing style and punctuation. To be completely honest, I just thought bloggers assumed I wasn’t very good at writing.

I think it is very important to be open about being dyslexic as it’s important to inspire those to achieve their goals and aspirations. I am an aspiring secondary school drama teacher, as well as a blogger. There are highly dependent on reading, writing, and spelling and I am determined to achieve these by working extra hard to overcome my weaknesses.

Here are some software’s that I recommend using for blogging and studying?

Some of these software’s are free, free to trial and have a subscription fee. If you have been diagnosed for dyslexia and you like the idea of these, you could try and get funded for these great software’s. All of these allows you to either download for free or a 30-day trial. It would be beneficial for you to try some of these out and find which ones would help you personally.
