What a month this is going to be!!!

I apologise for not posting weekly like I said I would.

I am writing this post primarily to tell you about all the wonderful things I have been up to, and all the things that I am looking forward to.

What you’ve missed?

You may or may not know, but I have finished my second year of university. I am so happy to be announcing this as it has been a big struggle for me, especially achieving the grades that I have been pushing for. I have finished first and the second year scrapping a 2:1 so I am proud of myself. I just keep saying to myself – It’s just one more year, and it will all be worth it! I will be doing a little Instagram poll soon as I want to create a YouTube video answering all of your questions about uni, adult life, and any questions you may have. So, comment a question or direct message me personally and I will add it to the list for you.

I have also been photographing a lot more. I managed to be the leading photographer of a wedding, as well as a few uni events – including summer ball 2019 with the special guest SIGALA. These past few months have been incredible. I have learnt so much and I think I have found a photography specialism which I would like to develop further. I absolutely love creating unique photo albums for all clients to treasure for eternity.

Recently, you would have seen, probably definitely you have seen if you follow me on social media or keep up with my blog posts. I wrote a post about creating a new YouTube channel that I would actually like to keep up and running, especially alongside my blog to help show in detail some of the posts that I am writing about. I mainly create content based on ASMR, lifestyle, and travel. Again, if you have any suggestion, please let me know.

What’s to come?

So, here’s to the best part… WHAT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TOOOO!!

This month is going to be filled with a lot of happiness. I am hoping to start a new job that is the same as what I am doing now, although it is higher up in the industry which will be great for my CV. I have been really focusing on things that I can do for experience. I have one year left at uni and I am so indecisive about what I want to do after.

I have been considering going travelling next June for around 2-3 months, if not longer. I have been thinking about going travelling for some time now. And, I am at the point in my life where I am worried that if I don’t do it now, then I probably won’t do it ever. I don’t want to regret not going as it is something I have always wanted to do. Of course, I would be able to go on holidays, but there is something about travelling solidly that I want to do. On my list so far, I have decided to go to Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, Sydney, Melbourne, and New Zealand. I am sure the list will definitely get longer, but that is it for now. If you have any suggestions or advice on anything at all about travelling, please please let me know as I will appreciate it greatly.

I will also be going on holiday at the end of this month to BARCELONA. I am extremely excited – to the point where I am thinking about packing my case already. I will be going there for 5 days with a group of friends. It is actually the same group of friends from when I went to Budapest last year. We have so much planned, and of course, I have planned and thought out the whole thing AGAIN! I just want this holiday to be perfect, and I want everyone to have a great time. I think I am going to be vlogging my time away. Although, I am not sure how I am going to do it. I don’t know if I want to do daily vlogs or to just do a new vlog every other day or so. I suppose it will be down to how much footage I actually manage to film.

And lastly, I have a few brands who I will be working with this month. I do want to keep it a surprise, but I thought I would give you the warning. These won’t be revealed for a few weeks yet, as things are still being discussed. I am very excited to be working alongside these businesses and I feel happy to have accepted their products to review for you. As I have said before, I will only work with the brands who I trust and support, and if I haven’t used them before, then I will give an honest review.

That’s all for today. This post is just a casual one to let you know about what is going on in the life of Bryoni. But yeah, if you have any advice or suggestions for anything that I have spoken about, then please please please drop me a comment.

Thank you.

Study & Work With Me | Full Pomodoro Timer Included | Tips & Advice.

Prepare your study session

I would suggest that you prepare and/or set up a perfect study/workspace that you will be comfortable in. I found that sitting on my bed with lots of pillows supporting me and laying my stuff out on the bed really helped me to crack on with what I wanted to do. I liked how much space I had to work, especially as normally I just use my desk – which is tiny. I would suggest that you create a clean space, and this will make a big difference and ensure that you have a cup of water or something that you like to drink to keep you hydrated. As you can see from the video below, I had a big bottle of water and a banana which I had during the break.

Make a study plan

Even though this seems like one of the most basic tips to give someone, it does indeed make a big difference. I would suggest that you plan what you want to get done within the first half, second half, and any other sections of your study time. This is where the Pomodoro technique comes in handy. I will explain and talk you through what happens in a Pomodoro in the next section of this post which is followed by a video. You should set yourself goals on what you want to achieve, for example, 600 words of an essay which is approximately 2/3 paragraphs, including the introduction.

Try out different learning methods and techniques

This is very important whilst maximizing your study time. I suggest that you try studying in a range of different places, such as a coffee house, the kitchen, your desk, or on your bed like I did. I have tried out many places and I know that when I am working on specific things, I work better in different places. Although this may seem strange, I think it is fairly common to those who get distracted quickly. Alternatively, you can try out a range of study methods which can include a range of methods as to how you can learn everything you need to. I would suggest using your laptop (for research, spelling, and grammar), a notebook (for planning what you’re going to do), and books (to gain knowledge). You can also use flow charts and diagrams to construct a plan or a structure of what you want to include in your work.

Watch and/or Listen to a video

I find it extremely useful to listen to sounds/videos whilst studying. It helps me to cut out background noise as well as getting into the piece of work that I need to get done. I had a very soothing piano instrumental which honestly helped me to complete all of my assignments that year at uni and I will always use that know whenever I have the assignment to do. You could listen to other instrumentals that you like, or ASMR relaxing videos or even a study/work with my video which I am currently creating whilst writing this blog post. I watched my first ever one from Gibi and I fell in love. It is like having a study partner, except they are actually there, which is good because you don’t actually get distracted.

Those were just some of my most valuable study tips and advice. To complement this post, I have created a full Pomodoro with a timer included, so that you can maximize your studying time, as well as getting all the stuff done that you need to do.

If you don’t know what a Pomodoro is, I will explain it now…

What is a Pomodoro?

A Pomodoro is a time management technique developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. This method uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length which totals to 2 hours, separated by short breaks around 3-5 minutes. For the purpose of trying this out, and filming it for the first time, I tried this technique for half of the recommended time of 1 hour.

I really enjoyed creating this video. I managed to get a lot checked off my to do list and I managed to write this whole blog post.

If you found this useful, please let me know in the comments below. Also, if you would like me to do a longer Pomodoro then, of course, let me know and I can do that.

I’ve Created A YouTube Channel…

It’s done.

IMG_2721-2

I have only gone and created an actual YouTube channel (Bryoni Burns) with a design I am obsessed with. I have been thinking about YouTubing for a while now, especially after taking a year out with a joint channel with my friend. I have finally got the courage to start making my own videos and sharing them with the rest of the world.

The main reason why I decided to create a YouTube channel is to provide a detailed account to support the posts that I publish on my blog. I have realized that by creating a post based on traveling, beauty, and fashion, that it would be good to also film a video to give you more based on a particular subject. You can expect to see videos based on reviews, fashion, beauty, travel, ASMR, and of course VLOGS!!!

I am so excited to have created a new YouTube channel, and I have lots planned for the upcoming months. I have started off by creating a short introductory video which I think was a complete failure, but it is a NEW YOUTUBER TAG, so you can get to know me. I haven’t answered all of the questions, just the ones that I thought were relevant. I am apologizing now if the video is a little awkward, it was my first one, so I was a bit scared LOL.

Here is my first ever YouTube video (on this channel):

What Is ASMR? And Why Does It Make Me Feel So Good?

This is definitely a different type of post, in comparison to the type of things I normally publish. However, I have seen a lot of new YouTubers recently try out ASMR (such as Mark Ferris and Safiya Nygaard) which had got me feeling that perhaps this can become a lot more popular than what it appeared to be before. Ever since I heard about it, I always wanted to watch and find out a little bit more.

What is ASMR?

According to Bing, Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a feeling of well-being combined and an experience characterized by a static-like or a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck and upper spine. ASMR can be triggered by many things and of course, differs per individuals, such as whispering, paper tearing, tapping, and scalp massage.

ASMR reminds me a little bit of the work of Antonin Artaud (drama practitioner) who invented the ‘Theatre Of Cruelty’ which is a performance that included the audience. Artaud believed that gesture and movement was a lot more powerful than text. An example of his work; is one that involves the audience laying on the floor with some individuals who will make the audience feel emotions. The lights are recommended to be off. The task of the individuals is to create sounds either verbally or the use of objects to be used as a tool of sensory disruption. The idea is to make them feel this tingling sensation or goosebumps which is inevitably a real-life experience of feeling an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR).

Why does it make me feel so good?

Without this sounding very strange (and definitely NOT inappropriate), but I have always enjoyed the feeling of being touched. When I say this, I mean for things like massages, stroking of the skin and playing with my hair/a head massager. I find it rather relaxing and when I experience any of these it often makes me feel slightly sleepy. I honestly find it a great way to calm my body down, especially if I have had a stressful/busy day or if I am very anxious. Fortunately, there are now many many people (YouTubers) who have made videos that are designed to trigger ASMR; whether if that is through whispering, role-playing or the basic forms of tapping and rubbing. These are actually designed to make you feel relaxed and to experience that tingling feeling. So, if you feel this whilst you watch these videos then you have experienced an ASMR.

Here are a couple of my favourite kinds of videos to watch especially before going to sleep, as it puts my mind in a good place to have happy thoughts and dreams.

Don’t forget to wear headphones if you can as it gives a whole different perspective!
