10 Things You Must Do When Visiting Belfast.

Hello everyone, welcome back to another one of my travel blog posts. As you can tell from the title of this post, I will be giving you tips on 10 things you must do when visiting Belfast in Northern Ireland. I went to Belfast with my boyfriend Kevin where he got the chance to meet half of my family that live over there. We had a great time interacting and engaging with everybody. It was lovely for me to see all my family again as I only really see them like once a year or every other year. We only went for 3 nights which flew by… to be honest, it was rather nice to just have a few days off work to chill. Fortunately, the weather was lovely for 2 of the days we were there and the last day is when the rain came on which didn’t really bother me as I felt like we needed it. I really enjoy going to Belfast because it isn’t that far on the plane and it has some great historical buildings and landmarks. I did a post similar to this one which was published after I went to Amsterdam, you can view it here: https://bryoniburnsblog.com/2018/05/23/what-to-do-on-a-short-city-break-in-48-hours-amsterdam/

1. Belfast Town Centre

I know exactly what you’re thinking and of course, with most Cities, you would typically go to their city centre to explore the shops and get a rough idea of what it’s about. However, I honestly believe that, as a tourist, you have to go to Belfast City Centre, not just because it’s the city, but because it has a lot of beautiful old-fashioned buildings that are known as they’re famous landmarks. Belfast town is absolutely massive! They have multiple shopping centres, theatres and of course a lot of tourist attractions. They have multiple old-fashioned historical buildings that are used as everyday shops. For example, the first photo below is a Primark. It is just absolutely beautiful. From the outside of the building, you would never know it was a Primark unless you saw the sign. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see everything as I was only there for 3 days, however, I do know that the next time I get the chance to go to Belfast, I would love to do one of their hop-on-hop-off sightseeing 2. Bus City Tours.  I think it would be beneficial and probably the best way to see the most important landmarks in Belfast. I believe that as a tourist it is important that you get the most out of going on holiday which is why I try to do a lot of stuff in a short amount of time.

3. Belfast City Hall

The Belfast City Hall is a beautiful landmark, even just from the outside. Luckily, I managed to go inside, for FREE, to have a look at their interior and the glassed stained tinted windows. It is part of their exhibition to have pictures of the most famous landmarks on them. There isn’t too much to write about this because it is something that you’d have to go to yourself. It is definitely a popular tourist attraction as it was fairly busy with tours happening when we went. I will let the photos speak for themselves. I went a bit happy crazy with the camera and took photos from every angle, but here’s a few:

This is one of many beautiful glass windows which has been designed to inform tourists of some of the most famous tourist attractions in Belfast. For example, the two yellow cranes, the big blue-fish and the building of the Titanic, including the Titanic museum open for visitors.

4. Titanic Museum

The Titanic museum is an interactive museum open for the public, from 2012, to give them the Titanic experience. You get to explore the shipyard, walk the decks, travel to the depts of the ocean and uncover the true legend of Titanic in the city where it all began. If you are into history and like to find out the truth to get a better understanding then I 100% recommend this. I am very much into history and I love learning about the past. I thought this was incredible. The museum is so life-like and it does give you the feel like as if you are on the Titanic. I was able to capture some great photos to give you an idea of the sort of things that you can see.

5. ViewPoint From Hannahstown Hill

A part from Hannahstown Hill, there are many places where you can get a beautiful view of Belfast. There are many mountains surrounding the City Centre which creates beautiful views all around you. My favourite place to stand to look at Belfast City is the viewpoint from Hannahstown hill. I managed to get a little photo of this, although, it was slightly foggy the day I decided to adventure up. I just think it is absolutely beautiful.

6. Range Of Shopping Malls: Kennady Center, Burcher Road, Lisburn

Other than all the beautiful tourist attractions, Belfast is well-known for having a lot of shopping malls. Whether if they are small or big… they are everywhere. I absolutely loved spending a whole day shopping and travelling to all the shopping malls. It is so nice to see all the different shops, especially ones that I have never been to before. I didn’t actually buy a lot which is unusual for me, however, I did buy from Urban Outfitters and Primark. I had to be careful with my purchases as I had to make sure I could fit it in my suitcase to bring home. I suppose this is good because we all know I love shopping. I would have bought loads LOL. I have attached a couple of photos below for you to see what I bought in Belfast.

7. Lisburn Bowling Alley & Arcade

For mine and Kevin’s last night in Belfast, we decided to do something that we both love to do. We decided to go bowling. Bowling is so much fun and I love it so much. I get very competitive though. We played two games and guess what… I WON BOTH OF THE GAMES! I am pretty sure that Kevin didn’t let me win LOL. We had a lot of fun and it was lovely to just spend a little time together. We both work full-time which does make it difficult for us to actually spend time and do things together. I honestly had so much fun. After, bowling we went into the little arcade which is right next to the bowling alleys. There were so many games to play and the fun part was winning the tickets. Our favourite machine to play was the flappy bird game. It was sooooooo fun much. I loved how it was two player and after you got tickets for a prize. We managed to win 428 tickets and we chose 2x Rubik’s cubes, a large rubber and a dancing laughing emoji. These were just small prizes as it is designed for children, however, we did have fun… I must admit.

8. Grand Opera House: The Wizard Of Oz

As you all know, I am a big fan of shows and I love to watch shows in London on a yearly basis. It was so lovely for my auntie to plan a show for us to watch and boy what a great show it was indeed. We watched The Wizard Of Oz that was a children’s production. It was very clever and well thought out. I loved how many children there were apart of this production. At one point, there must have been over 80 children on stage. All of the children were brillant and definitely very talented. The girl who played Dorothy was incredible…like mind-blowing. I am honestly so pleased I had the chance to watch a production like this as it was definitely a lot different to the types of productions you see in London. Being a Drama student, hoping to pursue my career as a Drama teacher, I love to watch shows to give me ideas on what I can do to make my acting different or better. I have definitely learnt a lot from watching this childrens production.

Things that I want to do in Belfast next time:

9. Belfast Castle

I am very intrigued by the history of places that I travel to which is why Belfast Castle is definitely up there on my things to do. I have been for mini holidays to Belfast 5 times which is why next time I know I am 100% visiting the castle. I have looked it up online and the photos taken of it are absolutely stunning. As you are probably aware, I love visiting places that have big historical old-fashioned buildings that have history to them. I think they are mesmerising and I love capturing these types of photographs.

10. Belfast Zoo

I would love to visit Belfast Zoological Gardens to see all the cute animals and take some beautiful photographs of them. I went to the zoo for the very first time about a month ago and absolutely loved it. I liked seeing the animals up close for the very first time and seeing how they live. I would really like to visit the zoo in Belfast to see what it’s like and how different it is to Marwell Zoo that I went to.

Thank you so much for popping back onto my blog. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and found it somewhat useful. If you have any feedback, opinions, comments or any ideas for me, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. Stay tuned for more holiday blog posts. Have a great day!

How To Get In The Holiday Spirit? || The Travel Tag

Hello everyone! I hope you are doing well. You’re probably surprised I have another blog post LOL. I made a promise that I will keep publishing again like I used to and I am going to make that happen. I have planned out so many interesting and fun blogs that I am looking forward to sharing with you in the next upcoming months. For those of you who don’t know, I have two mini holiday breaks coming up which is why I wanted to do this little holiday travel tag to help get me in the holiday spirit. I am going to Belfast on Thursday 26th July to Sunday 29th July and I am going to Budapest on Friday 3rd August to Monday 6th August. I am so happy to be going away. If you would like any specific travel posts regarding these places please comment below as I would love to do helpful travel posts. Now without further ado… let’s move straight on.

Which countries of the world have you already visited?

Unfortunately, I haven’t been to a lot of places as I didn’t begin going on holiday until I was 16 years old. The places I have been to in chronological order are Disney Land (Paris), Marsa Alam (Egypt), Manila (Philippines), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Belfast (Nothern Ireland) and a range of places in the United Kindom.

Which destination is the number one of your bucket list?

This is very easy for me to answer as I have always dreamed of going to Australia… more specifically Melbourne and/or Sydney.

What is your most ideal holiday?

My most ideal holiday would definitely be something very spontaneous. I would love to go travelling unexpectedly… perhaps with a camper van and just see where the roads take me. I would love to do this will my boyfriend Kevin. It would be the best thing ever. It would be lovely. As long as we have a great time, I don’t even mind where we go. It would just be nice to explore, have fun and take a wild adventure.

Which place did you think was so special that you would love to go back there sometime?

Definitely, Disney Land Paris as it was mine and Kevin’s first day together in a relationship. I would absolutely love to go back there on one of our anniversary’s because it would mean a lot to me. I have always been one of those traditional people who treasure special moments like that. It would be nice to see Paris too as we never explored the city. We just stayed at Disney Land for our college trip. In February 2019 it will be mine and Kevin’s 5th year anniversary… hint hint hint LOL. I would love to go for our 5th year together.

Show us your nicest holiday photo:

Did you have to travel for work sometime? If yes, where?

Sadly… no! My job does not require me to travel around the world. Although, it would be amazing to travel and work at the same time. You would be able to learn so much, not just from working, but culturally.

With who are you mostly going on holiday?

My boyfriend Kevin. Most of my holidays have been with Kevin. It was just Amsterdam that Kevin didn’t come to as it was my sister’s hen party weekend.

Would you rather go to an amusement park or zoo?

Personally, this is rather tricky for me. I don’t do either of them a lot and I have never thought about this question before. I think I would probably choose an amusement park as long as Kevin could come with me because we would have a lot of fun whilst spending a lot of money LOL.

Would you rather go on a sun or ski holiday?

A very easy question for me to answer… SKI!!!!! Of course, I would choose that. I have never been on a ski holiday. I would always choose something that I have not done or only done a little. I love trying new things and experimenting. I have been to a range of sunny holiday places, so I would definitely try a ski holiday if I had the chance too.

What holidays do you have planned this year?

I am soooooooo happy to share this with you. I have been so excited about going on holiday which is why I wanted to do a post like this to help get all the excitement out, as well as give you more information about myself. I only have two short city breaks this year for my holidays, although I do prefer going to places for a few days as I tend to miss home in 4 days anyway. Tomorrow, I will be travelling to Belfast in Northern Ireland for 3 days to visit my family over there and to do a little bit of sight-seeing with of course Kevin. My second short city break is happening on 3rd August until the 6th August and I am going to Budapest with Kevin and 3 other friends. I am looking forward to this a lot because we have planned out the whole holiday ensuring we make the most of the time in Budapest. WE WILL HAVE A LOT OF FUN!

I am going to nominate 5 people who I think should do this blog post:

  1.  Emma
  2. Isla
  3. Sophie
  4. Anne
  5. Life Travel Soul

Thank you so much for popping back onto my blog. It means so much to me. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post. Now… I challenge YOU to do this tag if you are going on holiday anytime soon. It is definitely the perfect way to get you in the holiday spirit. If you would like me to do any blog posts specific to Belfast or Budapest please let me know. I would love to give you any advise and share my experiences with you. I hope you have a great end to the week and an amazing weekend!

From,

Bryoni X
